The Intermediate grades (4th-6th) are an important period of development and education for students. During these years, students are building upon the foundational skills and knowledge they acquired in earlier grades while preparing for more advanced concepts and challenges of middle school and beyond. Here’s what you can expect at this level:
Academic Curriculum
The curriculum focuses on a well-rounded education, encompassing various subjects such as Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Religion, along with Special Area classes (P.E., Music, Art, Choir, Band, and Technology). The academic standards are designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of subject matter.
Faith Formation
At St. Roch, religious education plays a vital role. Students learn about Catholic traditions, sacraments, scripture, moral values, and the life of Jesus. They regularly participate in the Liturgy, Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Praise and Worship, and prayer opportunities throughout the school day. St. Roch also emphasizes the need to serve others. There are many clothing drives, food drives, service projects, and activities in which the students participate throughout the year.
Character Development
Teachers and staff members integrate character education into the daily routine, encouraging students to apply virtues of kindness, respect, honesty, and responsibility in their interactions with peers, parents, teachers, and the wider community.
