The sacrament of Baptism is a moment of great significance for both the individuals being baptized and their families. It symbolizes the purification from sin and the beginning of a new spiritual journey. As water is poured or sprinkled over the person's head, prayers and blessings are offered to invoke the Holy Spirit's presence and guidance in their life.
We are establishing a new program that will be mandatory for all families wishing to have their child baptized at St Roch. The one-hour session is intended to bring about deeper faith-filled meaning and understanding of the sacrament of Baptism. The session will involve videos, lecture, and discussion on the sacrament, as well as logistics for scheduling for baptism. The program with be offered quarterly, on Saturday mornings at 10:00am in the rectory basement meeting room.
All families, even if other children have been previously baptized at St Roch, will be required to attend a session prior to scheduling a new baptism. Once attended, there will not be the need to repeat the session if there are future family baptisms. Families may attend before or after the child’s arrival.
